![]() Views of the Church from the Liquor Store collects a series of poignant, insightful essays and short letters focusing on the complex interaction of social injustices—and how they interact to create and maintain oppression. I base my observations on a mix of personal experience, current events, and history. If only those who conform to a narrow definition of respectability are “of God,” then what of the many whose income, sexuality, race, gender, or class disqualify them from entering this elite—and socioeconomically dominant—club? Easy though it may be to dismiss the drunks and “sinners” from the comfort of a pew, the view looks very different from the liquor store, where the church seems distant and unwelcoming. Instead of judging and dismissing, it’s time to listen to those society dismisses. We cannot afford to hide behind a respectability that is little more than poorly disguised racism, classism, and intolerance. Click the book to read Chapter 1! Click HERE to purchase the book!

![]() All Malia ever wanted in life was to become a full-time, professional dancer. Unfortunately, barriers in the form of half-assed attempts at getting a college education, a less than supportive mother, and the lack of dance classes in her area stand in the way of achieving her ultimate goal. But that all changes once choreographer Blaise Anthony comes to town, bringing both his experience in the dance industry and a brand new dance studio. Malia is instantly captivated by the idea of not only being able to give her full attention to dance, but also to be trained by one of her idols in the process. But when the two finally collide on the dance floor, an undeniable chemistry that goes beyond an eight count arises. And while Malia might’ve thought she was coming to dance towards her dreams, she quickly learns that she’s actually rehearsing for a whole lot more... Click the book to read a Sample! Situated in the panhandle of Alaska, Zarembo is an uninhabited island graced with a hideous cold, rainy climate, rugged terrain and insanely dense forest. This malevolent isle is no place anyone would wish to live, but this account explores man’s ability to regress to the stone-age conditions of Zarembo. This story is an atavistic yarn revolving around the relationship between a man, sentenced to five years of penal servitude in the green hell of southeast Alaska, and a badly injured black wolf expelled from his pack. Both man and wolf are confronted by the distinct possibility of starvation as they struggle to live under the cruel, indifferent gaze of Zarembo Island. These hereditary enemies are initially bent on killing each other, but when this fails, the man-wolf relationship evolves from mutual fear to tolerance and, finally, to dependence and, perhaps, even affection.
