This week's Author 10 features DL White, who currently has her book Same Time Next Week available for Pre-Order on Amazon. Check out her answers to The Author 10 below! :) 1. Favorite book of all time? My answer to this is always TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD. I haven't read it in MANY years (something I plan to remedy before GO SET A WATCHMAN comes out), but when anyone asks me about my favorite book, that one immediately comes to mind. 2. Favorite author of all time? Tough question..... this really varies. I don't know that I have ONE favorite author. I read across a few genres, so I'll say, my fave thriller writer right now is Paul Cleave (with a nod to John Lescroart as well), my fave romance writer is probably LaVyrle Spencer(I started reading her back in my teens and read EVERYTHING she's ever written); my fave Literary fiction writer..... hmmm hard to say.... but my fave Erotica/ Erotic Romance writer is Roni Loren. 3. Favorite book turned movie? Fried Green Tomatoes. Very well done. 4. Favorite genre to read? I'll read Literary fiction over anything, I think. Then a good crime/mystery/thriller novel. Romance is kind of a palate cleanser. I need some happiness after taking in so much drama. 5. Favorite genre to write? Women's fiction. I LOVE telling the stories of every day women. 6. What is your go-to writing playlist? Dave Matthews Band. Just click it and GO. 7. What snack/drink must you have while you're writing? If any? Skittles is my Writer Fuel. it's not messy, it's fruity and delicious. If I am doing some kind of retreat (where I book a hotel room and write all weekend), I bring a 2lb bag of Skittles. 8. How do you celebrate a release day? Besides staring at Amazon? Hahaha... I've only had two of them, so I don't have any set ritual or celebration... but I have one coming next month so maybe I'll do something special... go to dinner or something. 9. What's your favorite part about being an author? Hearing from a reader that they loved the story and could relate to the characters, that the people in my books reminded them of someone they knew. That lets me know that my stories are realistic, grounded in reality and my characters are well developed and not flat or surface 10. Why should people read your books? Because they are real, engaging stories about lifelike characters living life just like you or me. ![]() About DL White I am an African American Romance and Women's Fiction reader and writer. My work has appeared at IndieInk.org, Short-Story.net and Storyfix.com. My first full length novel, Brunch at Ruby's is now available! I enjoy reading (lots and lots of reading) writing, candy, Sprite, and things flavored with raspberry... but not raspberries themselves. I hope you'll drop by often and share in the joy (uh huh) of writing! Enjoy your stay! Click HERE to purchase her books!
